SCERVINO AWARD: Moscow is calling Ermanno Scervino, the only Italian designer slated to receive the World Fashion Award there on April 25. Every year, the World Fashion Channel awards top fashion designers, editors, and other international industry leaders for their creativity and dedication. Scervino will be the guest of honor at this year’s awards ceremony, held at the Radisson hotel, and will jumpstart the evening with a runway show featuring his spring 2012 and fall 2012-13 women’s collections. Italian ambassador in Russia Antonio Zanardi Landi will present Scervino with an award for “his support and the contribution made to the development and promotion of Italian fashion in Russia.”
Scervino’s Florentine brand has enjoyed a surge in popularity in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus, and now has three freestanding stores in Moscow, in addition to boutiques in Saint Petersburg, Samara and Novosibirsk. The designer will create the official off-field uniforms of the Azerbaijan Republic team at London’s upcoming 2012 Olympic Games.
