LIVE A LITTLE: Enjoy Good Days, a 2,500-square-foot pop-up shop, was unveiled Thursday at the GunBar at 55 Gansevoort Street in New York City. Every Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the pop-up concept takes over the GunBar during the daylight hours, showcasing the work of 12 young designers, three of whom — Whit, Timo Weiland and Ari Design — are participants in the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Incubators program. Other designers include Strong Boat, Minnie Mortimer, E Eldridge, Del Toro and Tre Truck, a mobile skateboard shop. Enjoy Good Days is the brainchild of Joey Goodwin, designer of Unruly Heir, whose styles will also be on display.
“People could come from the High Line, shop their favorite brands and get something to eat,” Goodwin said. “It’s a full lifestyle experience.” There are two restaurants in the building, La Gazzetta at Villa Pacri, an Italian café, and Villa Pacri, a more formal Italian restaurant. Get Inked Tattoo Parlour based in Norwalk, Conn., set up shop at the GunBar.
The Meatpacking District seems to be the place for pop-up shops. Last month, Mr Porter, a U.K. men’s online site, opened a pop-up store at 72 Gansevoort Street and Nicholas K. in June rented 64 Gansevoort Street for a sample sale.
Goodwin has DJs lined up and even wrapped an ice cream truck with all the featured brands’ logos. It’s parked outside the pop-up shop until closing, when Goodwin drives it back to his house at Spring Street and Sullivan Street. “All of these brands are young,” he said. “These are the future brands you’re going to see at Lincoln Center. We have them all under one roof.”
