BEAUTY ROUTINE: Well into her second week of previews for the Broadway play “Truman Capote’s ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s,’” actress Emilia Clarke looked remarkably fresh faced and bright eyed Thursday morning. Clarke stars as Holly Golightly in the play by Tony Award winning playwright Richard Greenberg, which opens on Wednesday at the Shubert’s Cort Theater.
The actress of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” cheerfully detailed her beauty routine over breakfast hosted by Target. The retailer tapped its beauty partners Sonia Kashuk and Umberto Savone, who worked with costume designer Colleen Atwood, to create the Forties-inspired hair and makeup looks for Holly Golightly, staying true to the original setting of the novella.

As Clarke fielded questions on beauty and fashion, costar George Wendt elicited a round of laughter by declaring, “Fashion is my life!” Wendt plays Joe Bell, the local bartender — a fitting role for the actor who is best known as beloved bar patron Norm Peterson from “Cheers.”
Clarke, who revealed she was wearing Jason Wu, said she applies her own makeup for the play. As she does in “Game of Thrones,” in which she plays a platinum-haired queen, she wears a wig (albeit a dark brown one) for the stage. “My mother taught me how to do my makeup when I was 13,” said Clarke. “She also told me to cleanse, tone and moisturize two times a day — and not to touch my brows.” When off stage, she opts for tinted moisturizer and Tom Ford Beauty products and to rejuvenate a good “old fashioned” Epsom salt bath. Speaking of soaks, the producers teased that she wears a towel on stage before slipping into a bath — just one of Clarke’s 25 costume changes during the play. The revolving wardrobe has caused a bit of commotion back stage. During a recent show, Clarke attempted to slip off her robe and shoes while running. Her robe got caught on a bar stool, sending it crashing down along with a portion of the set, Clarke recounted with a smile.
