Take a bamboo garden with a flamenco band and a stuffed ox and you can only be chez John Galliano. The designer transformed his headquarters into Paris' remote 20th arrondissement Tuesday night to fete the launch of his first signature scent, scattering love letters, statuaries, bowls of fruit and his frothy bias-cut dresses to evoke the sense that "she just left the room but we've captured her essence," said Galliano, who was joined by the likes of Sofia Coppola, milliner Stephen Jones and Sidney Toledano. The John Galliano fragrance is due out mid-October in France, Germany, Switzerland and England. Then, in 2009, Galliano and his fragrance licensee Selective Beauty will introduce the scent to the rest of the world.
