On Tuesday afternoon, a selection of Upper Easy Side fixtures headed to a luncheon at a private townhouse hosted by Serena Boardman, Maggie Katz and Caryn Zucker.
Catherine Malandrino’s pre-fall and spring collections were on display and discounted 25 percent for the occasion. (Ten percent of proceeds went to Citymeals-on-Wheels.)
“It’s just a great way to start out the season. It’s starting to feel springlike outside, although not so much today,” Zucker said, wearing a brightly colored Malandrino frock. “It’s a good time to build on that excitement.” After skimming the racks, shoppers feasted on mushroom quiche, chickpea salad and roast beef pinwheels.
Boardman, who was noticeably absent from the growing dressing room queue, shared her shopping strategy. “I find it’s often best to shop after lunch because it’s really hard to shop when all your friends are milling around and you’re saying hello to everyone,” she said. “If you’re a serious shopper, you stay late.”
