DOWNRIGHT BOOKISH: “With the book, with the book,” a photographer beseeched a posing Genevieve Jones with a particularly hefty prop, “Pucci,” a reissue of the initially limited-edition coffee table book from Taschen. The fashion house feted the re-edition at its Madison Avenue flagship on Wednesday night. The tome chronicles the rise of the house from Emilio Pucci’s tiny store in Capri in the 1950s to a global fashion brand with 50 boutiques worldwide.
“Look, the covers are all different,” Laudomia Pucci said, on break from her signing duties, motioning to a nearby table displaying all four different cover designs, each an original pattern from the Pucci collection. There’s also a limited-edition version (500 copies total), bound in the house’s original vintage fabric from the Seventies that sells for $1,800. “It’s on my father’s life, how the brand developed,” Pucci continued before hugging hello Bibhu Mohapatra. “And it deals with how to be true to yourself but still be part of today without being nostalgic.”
