Douglas Song, chairman of Prodos Capital Management, the American merchant bank that, together with Samsung, has won the bid to acquire the Gianfranco Ferré brand, took in the label’s show. Song gamely posed for photos with Ferré’s administrators, but stopped short of discussing future strategies until Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi formally signs the paperwork that will seal the deal—expected in about a fortnight. In a sign of continuity, he then proceeded to take his seat next to Rita Airaghi, the late designer’s cousin and collaborator, nodding approvingly at several looks. Jada Pinkett Smith also attended the Ferré show. Pinkett Smith is in Italy promoting her show “Hawthorne,” which is premiering here, and plans to see several shows while in Milan. “I have many different personalities and I like to express that,” she said of her interest in diverse designer brands.
