DONNA DOES THE WEB: Donna Karan is taking social networking to another level by offering a virtual trunk show for her fall collection.
Her runway collection will be shown live online on the “what’s new” tab on the company’s Facebook page on Monday at 2 p.m. Then customers can preorder, via neimanmarcus.com as of Feb. 22, Karan’s top picks from her collection, those she believes are most important to a woman’s wardrobe. The looks that are reserved will be shipped around mid-August.
“Donna Karan appreciates what modern women need and want from their wardrobes,” said Karen Katz, president and chief executive officer of the Neiman Marcus Group. “What could be more modern than selecting and ordering Donna’s signature sportswear via social media from their favorite mobile device?” The strategy is the latest of Karan-Neiman’s exclusives, which have included personal appearances to launch Karan’s 25th anniversary lipstick collection and her Lenox tabletop collection. “Making the Donna Karan brand available to women wherever they are is one of our top objectives,” said Carole Kerner, president of Donna Karan New York.
