Didier Grumbach Makes July 14 Honors Roll

The outgoing Fédération president was one of several fashion industry officials promoted in the annual list.

GRUMBACH HONORED: Didier Grumbach, the outgoing president of the Fédération Française de la Couture, du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode, has been named an officer of France’s Legion of Honor. Grumbach, 77, is a longtime champion of French fashion and headed the federation since 1998. He will retire in September.

Meanwhile, Dominique Chardon Savard, head of the Atelier Chardon Savard fashion school, was elevated to the rank of chevalier in the national merit system, created by Napoleon Bonaparte. Jeweler Philippe Tournaire was also named a chevalier as part of the country’s traditional July 14 promotions.
