Every season, Diane von Furstenberg corrals a varied and star-studded front row. This season that included her son Alex von Furstenberg, his soon-to-be-wife Ali Kay and his ex-wife Alexandra Miller, Estelle, Elettra Wiedemann, Fran Lebowitz, Peaches Geldof and Candice Bergen, who was with her daughter Chloe Malle. “I’m an old friend of Diane’s,” Bergen said. “I like her clothes — when I can fit into them.”

Giancarlo Giammetti is a longtime pal of the designer’s as well, though it was his first time at her show. While Valentino is in Italy working on costumes, Giammetti is in New York decorating his apartment at the Pierre. Life hasn’t changed much since his star turn in “Valentino: The Last Emperor,” he said, except that “in the airport yesterday they asked me why I was carrying my own luggage.”

Blake Lively, hounded by paparazzi, arrived to her front-row perch straight from the U.S. Open, where she cheered on Juan Martin del Potro against Rafael Nadal. “I always root for the underdog,” she said. “Obviously Nadal was an underdog but that was years ago. Plus, I think that even people who are sad about Nadal losing were cheering at the end when they heard [del Potro] speak.”

Maureen Dowd rounded out the list, though it was unclear whether she was there for work or for pleasure. “Well, I’m writing about racial bias with President Obama so I figured I’d come here and see things cut on the bias,” she said. Ba-dum-bump.
