SEAT YOURSELF: As it closes its doors for a two-year renovation, the Hotel Crillon is casting off its old things for auction. In addition to the 3,500 lots including carpets, curtains and fine wines that will go under the hammer from April 18-22 to help raise funds for the major revamp, 28 customized armchairs will be auctioned for two French charities, Samu Social and Foyer de la Madeleine.
Designers who have been solicited for the customization project include Andrew Gn, Alber Elbaz, Peter Copping and Alexis Mabille. All lots, including the armchairs, are on display until April 16.
The armchairs auction, led by Artcurial, the Paris-based action house best known for contemporary art, design and occasionally Hermès handbags, will take place on April 21, from 2.30 p.m. Bidding starts at 500euros, $653 at current exchange rates.
