DESIGNERS BRACE FOR STORM: New York could be hit with another four to six inches of snow late tonight into Thursday as another storm is headed for this area. Steven Kolb, chief executive officer of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, said, “We’re monitoring it and using social media to communicate anything we might know.” He said he was in touch with the venues, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and Made, so they know they can contact the CFDA, which can disperse any information about cancellations, as well as the city. A spokesman for IMG Fashion said there were no updates at this time.
Companies such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, J.Mendel and Marc Jacobs plan to show Thursday. “Given the forecast, we are anticipating that travel on Thursday will be challenging for some to get to and from show venues. We are increasing staffing levels to expedite check in and are asking our teams to be safe and exercise caution getting to the show location. We continue to monitor the weather, but the show must go on,” said Malcolm Carfrae, executive vice president and chief communications officer of Calvin Klein Inc.
A spokeswoman at J.Mendel added, “Given how everyone was expecting a huge blizzard on Sunday, and we ended up with nothing more than a gentle dusting of snow, it’s hardly time for panic stations. At any rate, this is New York City. Roads will be plowed, sidewalks and steps cleared, and shows will go on. No concerns here.”
Ralph Lauren’s and Marc Jacobs’ shows are going ahead as planned, too.
