DESIGN PARTNERS: Guess is looking to the next generation of talent for design inspiration. The Los Angeles-based company and the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising will hold a design contest for students participating in FIDM’s Creative Design Analysis and Portfolio Preparation and Presentation classes.

Tasked with creating and producing a salable denim-based look for the Guess brand, FIDM professors will select the top 20 entries, which will be judged by Guess executives on how they reflect the spirit of the brand, manufacturability, creativity and presentation quality.

The prize is a $5,000 cash award and the chance to have the winning design produced and sold as a limited-edition look on guess.com. The top five finalists will be invited to the company’s headquarters to present their sketches and receive mentoring from the design team (the company will provide the denim and trims needed). The winner will be selected in January.
