DECADES’ TAKE TWO: Decades owner Christos Garkinos will launch his own line for HSN, called eureka by Christos Garkinos, during two live shows on March 20 and 21. “The name comes from the Greek word that I say to myself when I see a really great piece in someone’s closet that I want for the store,” said Garkinos. The line, priced from $49.90 to $119.90, features pieces that flatter all body types, from sizes two to 24. “Being in the world’s greatest closets, I’ve seen styles that work on every body type. Most of the women I dress are sizes two to eight, but my sisters and my friends are always asking for pieces they can wear, so this is dedicated to them. These are the women who got dressed up for church every Sunday, who influenced my love of fashion,” he said. The line includes a peasant blouse named after Sophia Loren, who was the first celebrity Garkinos met. There is also a cropped bouclé jacket, a pleated shirt dress, an empire-waisted column dress and a capri pant. “Christos has access to the world’s greatest closets, so he has an understanding of what to buy and a piece’s intrinsic value,” said Vanessa Dusold, HSN’s senior vice president of apparel and accessories. “He also has a dynamic personality and is a great story-teller.” If the network’s collaborations with Hal Rubenstein, Giuliana Rancic and June Ambrose are any indication, eureka should net hefty sales. “This is really going to resonate with customers. All of them have a way of creating fashion for everyone and tapping into that direct-to-customer experience.” Dusold said she’d like to explore jewelry and accessories for future eureka collections.
