DEAR JEAN: The Brooklyn Museum said Tuesday it will host the hit Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition from Oct. 25, 2013, through to Feb. 23, 2014 — the only venue on America’s East Coast to present the showcase, organized by the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The retrospective, which kicked off in Canada in June 2011, has already attracted some 500,000 visitors with its stops in Montreal, Dallas and San Francisco. Now on in Madrid, the show travels to Rotterdam and Stockholm before arriving in New York. The Brooklyn leg will include new elements, including ensembles from recent runway shows.
Designed to celebrate the designer’s “open-minded vision of society” and human diversity, the display includes more than 140 couture and ready-to-wear ensembles, sketches, video and television clips. Crowd-pleasers include stage costumes worn by Madonna during several tours.
