DAYBREAK AT BEHNAZ: Having celebrated her company’s tenth anniversary, Behnaz Sarafpour noticed how a number of clients repeatedly asked for daytime dresses, so she has done something about it. The designer is unveiling an eight-piece group of daytime and day-into-evening dresses that will each be offered in three different color ways. An ethereal silk sleeveless sheath with grosgrain ribbons and a Grace Kelly-inspired V-neck dress are among the designs that are meant to evoke Sarafpour’s signature aesthetic with a bit of a classic twist. “I really wanted to do something that represented my style,” she said.
One point of difference will be the retail prices, which at $400 to $700 are more affordable than Sarafpour’s runway collection. Twhe daytime dresses are part of the designer’s collection now, but they may carry their own label down-the-road. One or two of the new styles will be layered into her runway show Sunday at The Chocolate Factory with other items from her fall line.
