DAILYCANDY DABBLES IN DESIGN: DailyCandy is trying it’s hand at co-designing. Today, the Web site will launch DailyCandy Collaborations, featuring 150 limited edition items from Melissa Joy Manning, Glossybox, Holst + Lee, Heidi Merrick and Carrie Marill from art site 20x200 from Manning’s $250 pink druzy calcite stud earrings to Merrick’s $178 clutch with vintage sequins. According to Alison Moore, executive vice president and general manager of Daily Candy, this project looks to figure out that “magic commerce experience.” For Moore, it’s not just about a recommendation; it’s presenting that recommendation in an exclusive way. Ideally, Moore would like the site to roll out collaborations on a quarterly basis, or perhaps even more often. “We’re in the midst of exploring everything around e-commerce, [like] how we can deliver a great experience and thinking about new areas in commerce with a social or video element. We’re figuring out what the right experience is and so it’s not just gimmicky,” Moore said. A launch video starring chief correspondent Suchin Pak kicked off the project and a video series last night and the collaborations will be promoted on all digital and social platforms where the site is active, from dailycandy.com, to e-mail, to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest. Starting today, products will be available on dailycandy.com/collaborations, at The Standard Hotels and shopthestandard.com, and there’s a party at Le Bain tonight at The Standard, High Line to fete the partnership.
