TAKING CONTROL: Cynthia Vincent has bought out her partners in 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent and is talking to new investors as she aims “to take the company to the next level,” the designer said during an appearance at The Shak, Stanley Korshak’s contemporary boutique. Running the business side, Vincent was surprised to discover, is not as complex as she feared. “At the end of the day it’s money in and money out,” she said. Business has been exceptionally good this fall, with 80 to 85 percent sell through at retail, she claimed. “We love it — it’s one of my favorite collections,” affirmed Shannon Moore, buyer for The Shak. “It’s so easy and cool.” Next year marks 12th Street’s 10th anniversary, so Vincent plans to offer a commemorative collection of her bestselling faves, including item sweaters and the strappy gold-studded black suede sandal she was wearing. “This sandal is four years old people are always asking me to bring it back,” she said. Just don’t expect any references to New York. The company is based in Los Angeles and named for the street Vincent grew up on in suburban La Verne, Calif.
