CRISSCROSSING THE MAP: Carolina Herrera is on a cross-country tour with charity tie-ins. After touching down in Dallas to benefit the Equus Foundation, she jetted to Miami as the honoree at a cocktail party and dinner for the Miami Art Museum. Her daughter Patricia Herrera tagged along to the Saturday event hosted by Town & Country creative director Alexandra Kotur, and Miami philanthropists and art collectors Darlene Perez and Debra Scholl.
“I visit Miami at least once a year for a charity cause,” said Herrera, during an informal modeling presentation of her pre-fall and fall collections to MAM’s Benefactor Circle members at her Bal Harbour boutique. “I’m always here on business though and wish I could spend more time because this city always puts me in a good mood for its resort lifestyle.”
Her participation had impeccable timing, with the museum’s pending transition into the Perez Art Museum Miami and relocation to a bay-front building designed by Herzog & de Meuron. Scholl, who along with her husband Dennis Scholl recently donated 300 contemporary works by artists such as Cindy Sherman, Raymond Pettibon and Olafur Eliasson, was inspired by the new home and staff. “We saw it as the perfect confluence to make this gift,” she said.
Herrera heads next to Chicago and Los Angeles.
