CREATIVE DIFFERENCES: French contemporary brand Comptoir des Cotonniers has parted ways with creative director Amélie Gillier less than a year into her tenure, WWD has learned.
The company announced in February it had put the former artistic director of Zadig & Voltaire in charge of women’s ready-to-wear and accessories, as well as the brand’s image and visual identity. Gillier proceeded to comprehensively revamp the house’s collections, introducing a darker, rock ’n’ roll-themed aesthetic for fall.
A spokesman for Comptoir des Cotonniers described the split as “amicable” and said Gillier had left to pursue personal projects. He declined to provide further details.
Her departure comes after the appointment last month of Nancy Pedot as chief executive officer of Comptoir des Cotonniers and the Princesse Tam Tam intimates brand, both of which belong to Japanese retail giant Fast Retailing Co. Ltd.
