STICKY FINGERS: Retailers on Corso Buenos Aires have paid to install 17 additional security cameras on Milan’s most popular high street in the hopes of deterring shoplifters, a spokeswoman for the city police said.

In the past month and a half, more than a dozen people have been arrested on the thoroughfare for aggravated theft, according to the Milanese police.

After catching a woman caught pilfering from H&M on Tuesday night, officers found more than 300 garments without sensors, worth an estimated 3,000 euros, or around $4,100 at current exchange, stashed in her apartment. They believe most shoplifters are stealing not for personal use, but to resell merchandise illegally.
