Tim Coppens Adds to Women's Wear, Tapped for Swarovski Collective

At his spring show on Sunday at Milk Studios, the designer will include about a dozen women’s looks that will be wholesaled for the first time.

CHOOSING COPPENS: Tim Coppens is getting more serious about the women’s business. The Belgian-born designer, who has built a following in men’s wear, has dabbled in women’s for the past couple of seasons, but, at his spring show on Sunday at Milk Studios, Coppens will include about a dozen women’s looks that will be wholesaled for the first time. At the same time, the designer has been selected as one of 15 designers for the Swarovski Collective. The collective, now in its 15th season, offers designers financial support for their spring and fall 2015 collections, as well as crystals for them to incorporate into their designs. Coppens will use the crystals in his women’s-wear pieces.

In addition to Coppens, the collective will include Mary Katrantzou, Rodarte, Masha Ma, Misha Nonoo, Marques’ Almeida, Ashley Williams, Iris Van Herpen, Damir Doma and Christian Wijnants.

Over the past 15 years, the Swarovski Collective has supported over 150 designers, including Alexander McQueen and Jason Wu. The most recent crop of designers will show their collections during New York, London and Paris Fashion Weeks, which take place today through Oct. 1.
