HATS OFF: Of the dozen or so vintage Chloé outfits on display at 10 Corso Como on Saturday night in Milan, two of them stood out as particularly quirky: a pink coat paved with cartoon mug shots of birds, and a tank dress printed with sailor stripes on the bodice, and gentlemen in top hats near the hem.
“Those two outfits are archive pieces from Anna Piaggi,” Chloé chief executive Geoffroy de la Bourdonnaye explained to a visitor. “And that hat,” he added, pointing to a crescent moon perched on the head of a mannequin.
The French brand, Vogue Italia and retailer Carla Sozzani hosted a cocktail to fete the arrival of a capsule collection of reedition styles, part of festivities to mark Chloé’s 60th anniversary. The party also coincided with a photo exhibition at Sozzani’s gallery upstairs devoted to the work of photographer Alfa Castaldi, the late husband of Piaggi, the legendary Italian fashion editor who died last August. It runs through March 30.
