Oxfam, Italian Retailer Coin Tie Up for Charity Initiative

Global ambassador Kristin Davis flew to Milan for the launch of “Women’s Circle for Change,” which will support women in the world’s most difficult areas.

CHARITABLE CAUSE: Oxfam Italia has teamed up with Italian retailer Coin to launch “Women’s Circle for Change,” a charity initiative to support women in the world’s most depressed and difficult areas. To celebrate the project’s launch, Oxfam global ambassador Kristin Davis flew to Milan and, during a press conference held at the Coin store in Piazza Cinque Giornate, highlighted that Coin is the first department store to collaborate with Oxfam.

“I’m impressed that women in Italy really want to help women in the world,” Davis said, referring to the fact that 70 percent of Coin customers and 80 percent of Coin employees are women. Starting this week, shoppers at Coin’s 60 stores will be able to make a donation, buy Oxfam fair-trade items and purchase limited-edition clothes and home accessories designed by Oxfam ambassadors and Italian designers. Helena Christensen’s collection will be the first to hit the Coin stores in September.

In addition, Coin has launched the “Women making the difference” online contest. The winner will have the chance to take a trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina to see what Oxfam did in that area to help women rebuild their houses and businesses after the Bosnian war.
