Chanel Partners With Hyères Festival

The company will also become the principal sponsor of a permanent exhibition there about art patrons Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles.

HELPING HAND: Chanel’s couturier Karl Lagerfeld has long been a fan of the Villa Noailles in Hyères, and now the French fashion house has become a major partner of the 29th International Festival of Fashion and Photography, which takes place at the modernist mansion in southeastern France.

Chanel also said it would become the principal sponsor of a permanent exhibition there about art patrons Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, who tapped architect Robert Mallet-Stevens to build the house in the Twenties.

At the next edition of the festival, scheduled for April 25 to 28, Chanel said its support would include providing makeup for the fashion shows; underwriting the Photography Grand Jury Prize, which comes with 15,000 euros, or $20,650 at current exchange, and awarding the winner of the Première Vision Grand Jury Prize a chance to develop five looks in the specialty ateliers Chanel controls through its Paraffection subsidiary.

The chance to work with its embroidery, pleating, feather and flower houses is also valued at 15,000 euros.

Kenzo designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are to preside over this year’s jury at Hyères. Chloë Sevigny is among 10 members of the fashion jury, as reported.
