CFDA Planning First Jewelry Showcase

The event, slated for Oct. 16, aims to bolster the exposure of the organization’s growing contingent of jewelry designers.

CFDA’S JEWELERS: The Council of Fashion Designers of America will unveil its first jewelry showcase Oct. 16 at its headquarters on New York’s Bleecker Street. According to CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb, CFDA member Simon Alcantara came up with the idea to bolster the exposure of the organization’s growing contingent of jewelry designers.

“Our best ideas come from the ground up and from grassroots efforts,” Kolb told WWD. “We reached out to designers who could benefit from the exposure.”

The designers, all of whom are CFDA members, include Alcantara, Angela Cummings, Danielle and Jodie Snyder of Dannijo, Dean Harris, Gerard Yosca, Kara Ross, Steven Lagos, Lisa Jenks, Loree Rodkin, Lisa Salzer of Lulu Frost, Michael Spirito, Mimi So, Mish Tworkowski of Mish, Nak Armstrong, Nicholas Varney of Nicholas Varney Jewels, Stephen Dweck, Rachel Dooley of Gemma Redux, Ron Anderson and David Rees of Ten Thousand Things and Cheryl Finnegan of Virgins Saints and Angels.

“[At the showcase] our hope is to attract people who are interested in fashion, whether it’s retailers, fashion people, press of the business community,” Kolb said.
