CHARLIER’S CALI TOUR: Belgian-born Paris-based designer Cedric Charlier pushed West on his U.S. tour for Barneys New York, hosting back-to-back events in San Francisco and Beverly Hills on Wednesday and Thursday. “I felt it was important to come out to California to understand how people live here. It’s very different, and what impresses me most is the light.” He was, of course, referring to sunny Southern California and the light-filled Barneys Beverly Hills, where senior fashion director Tomoko Ogura and stylist Lawren Howell played co-host for a group including Liberty Ross, Ever Carradine, Jessica Joffe, Andrea Leiberman, Tierney Gearon and Kendall Conrad. “There seems to be less stress here and more about the contrast, freedom and beauty,” said the designer as guests settled into the flower-filled tables and tucked into local organic salads from Edible Schoolyard Project. Among other to-do items on Charlier’s list are a trip to the Getty Center to view the Ed Ruscha exhibit, and visits to Maxfield, American Rag and Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice Beach.
