NEW BEGINNINGS: Guests at the launch of Cédric Charlier’s ready-to-wear line in Paris on Tuesday were greeted by the Belgian designer himself, who stood at the door of the venue shaking hands. Sitting front row was Massimo Ferretti, chairman of Italian licensee Aeffe SpA, which produces the line. Ferretti said he was aiming to sell in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. “Our target for the first season is around 200 clients worldwide,” he said. “It’s a good moment to start now, even if it’s not an incredible moment [for the economy]. I think everybody is looking for new brands, for new energy.”
Speaking of new brands, was there any truth to the rumor that Aeffe has held talks with Raf Simons to discuss a collaboration? “I think that Raf Simons is a huge designer, for sure,” Ferretti said, but he rapidly added: “We have never spoken with him.”
