CAFFEINE CONFLICT: Prada Group has not given up on Milan’s storied Cova café on tony Via Montenapoleone. As reported, at the end of June, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton took a majority stake in Pasticceria Confetteria Cova Srl, owner of the Cova brand and of the Cova Montenapoleone Srl firm that manages the Milanese coffee house. According to media reports, Prada engaged in a legal battle with Cova’s previous owners, the Faccioli family, even before the sale to LVMH, contending earlier rights to the Cova brand. Prada has allegedly requested the brand be sequestered, showing letters that would prove previous binding contracts with the Italian luxury goods house. A decision by Milan’s courthouse is expected by the end of the month. A Prada spokesman declined comment. Speculation had been circulating for months that Prada Group was keen to buy Cova.

Separately, in the America’s Cup, Prada’s Luna Rossa Challenge 2013 did not race against Emirates Team New Zealand in San Francisco on Sunday as previously scheduled. The Prada team is awaiting a decision by the International Jury, following its protests against measures introduced by the regatta director at the end of June.
