BUSY HAL: On Tuesday around 4 a.m., Instyle fashion director Hal Rubenstein finished writing a new book, and then hours later he arrived at Lincoln Center to celebrate another book he’s about to publish, “100 Unforgettable Dresses,” which will come out next month with a forward by Alber Elbaz. The first dress in the book is that unforgettable little black Versace safety-pin frock worn by Elizabeth Hurley. “Here is a dress that created a persona and made her world famous overnight,” said Rubenstein. “To this day you could not tell me what movies she’s been in, but we remember her in that dress.” At the party, Rubenstein caught up with Jason Wu (his inauguration dress for Michelle Obama made the cut), Lorraine Schwartz and Norma Kamali, who sipped Champagne in the InStyle lounge above Alice Tully Hall.
