BURCH CREATIVE’S COOLCORE FILES LAWSUIT: Coolcore has filed two patent infringement lawsuits in a federal district court in New Hampshire, one against Grabber and the other against Perfect Fitness. The lawsuits allege that each firm has infringed upon Coolcore’s patent for thermal management of a textile. The patent includes the cooling of an object, such as a person’s skin. The lawsuits are seeking a preliminary injunction to bar the firms from the sale of their “cooling towels.”
Coolcore developed the chemical-free cooling material for fabrics, and the patented innovation delivers three functions: wicking, moisture circulation and regulated evaporation to reduce the fabric’s surface temperature up to 30 degrees. The cooling benefit never washes out, since it is chemical-free. The moisture-activated cooling technology allows sweat to work for athletes and on-the-go consumers.
Coolcore performance cooling apparel is slated to become available in spring 2014. Coolcore counts as one of its investors Burch Creative Capital, founded by chief executive officer J. Christopher Burch. Burch has cofounded a number of consumer brands, such as C. Wonder, Voss Water and Tory Burch.
