GOLDEN GOAL: If there’s one soccer match whose result won’t trigger bad blood, it’s the game scheduled for May 16 in Turin when the Nazionale Stilisti (the Italian designer team) will be suiting up once again, this time to raise money for the Fondazione Sant’Anna of Turin, which supports the neonatal care unit at the city’s Sant’Anna hospital. The team, which includes Beatrice Trussardi, Diesel chief Renzo Rosso, Santo Versace, Ferruccio Ferragamo and Ippolito Etro will be lead by their captain, Italia Independent’s Lapo Elkann and will play against Turin’s Juventus Alumni including old-time champions Gianluca Vialli, Paolo Montero and Ciro Ferrara.
Following the game the team with host a fund-raising gala dinner at the Circolo Canottieri Esperia for 300 people. In September, the team raised funds for muscular dystrophy research and will soon be organizing an event to lend solidarity to the victims of the earthquake in L’Aquila, Italy.
Speaking of Elkann, there is speculation the entrepreneur has teamed with Luca Trabaldo Togna, owner of the Saint Andrews tailoring company, to produce an Italia Independent bespoke men’s collection with technical detailing that will bow in June. Elkann recently cut the ribbon to his first Italia Independent temporary store in Saint-Tropez, which will shutter in the fall. The store already has attracted the likes of Peter Beard and his wife Neema; Ines de la Fressange and daughter Violette; Marina Berlusconi, daughter of Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio; Ivana Trump, and Jean Paul Gaultier.
