LONDON — The designers Nasir Mazhar, Sophia Webster and Jackie JS Lee of the J. JS Lee label have all been named winners of the British Fashion Council’s Fashion Forward prize for fall 2014 and spring 2015.
The prize, which is supported by the Mayor of London, provides the winners with funds to help show their collections and access to business support provided by the BFC. The prize is open to designers who have already passed through the BFC’s Newgen support program for emerging designers or who are at a similar stage of their business.
To showcase their fall 2014 collections, Lee will open London Fashion Week Feb. 14 with a show at 9 a.m. in the BFC’s courtyard show space at Somerset House, while Mazhar will show in the same space at 4 p.m. that day. Footwear designer Webster, meanwhile, is to present her collection Feb. 16 in Covent Garden.
Caroline Rush, chief executive of the BFC, described each of the designers as having a “distinctive design aesthetic,” adding that they “couldn’t be more deserving of this level of recognition.”
