REGAL SETTING: Porcelain maker KPM Berlin thought inside the box when it came to showing off its ongoing collaboration with Bottega Veneta.
On Wednesday, the two brands revealed a mini exhibition of place settings and Bottega Veneta homeware in TheBox, a glass rectangle in the leafy courtyard of the Hackesche Höfe, a sought-after, mixed retail space in the Berlin’s Mitte district. The show runs into the fall.
Bottega Veneta and KPM launched the line with a nine-piece dinner setting in 2008 and have since added a breakfast setting and other additional pieces. Called “Intreccio Svanito” after the Italian luxury brand’s famous leather weave, the porcelain collection features a hand-painted version of the pattern on the borders or centers of the dishes in brown against a white background.
For those favoring an even more traditional look, KPM (also known as Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur) is currently paying homage to its namesake, Frederick III, the King of Prussia, who founded the company in 1763. His blue scepter adorns each KPM porcelain piece, be it a teacup or one of the series of collectibles bearing his image that were designed to celebrate the leader’s 300th birthday this year.
