Charlotte Moss opened her Upper East Side townhouse on Wednesday evening for the Museum at FIT's annual Couture Council Summer Party. And guests seemed so excited to have a rain-free night that they packed Moss' garden to full capacity, oppressive humidity be damned.

"I'm trying to get people to move up to the library," said Moss as she ushered some guests upstairs. "But everyone just wants to stay outside."

Yaz Hernandez, CeCe Cord, Helen Schifter, Yigal Azrouël, Beth Rudin DeWoody and Amy Fine Collins chatted and sipped sparkling water and bubbly outside. Liz Peek addressed the crowd from a second floor balcony, announcing that the honoree at this year's Couture Council Luncheon will be Dries Van Noten, before Valerie Steele took the makeshift stage.

"I feel like Mussolini," she said, before thanking the enthusiastic turnout.

Of course, while August may be a leisurely month for most civilians, it is serious crunch time for the designers in attendance.

"I'm going right back [to my showroom]," said Christian Cota. "My seamstresses are there now working."
