LONDON CALLING: The official June schedule for London Collections: Men was revealed by the British Fashion Council at a cocktail party hosted by British Consul General Danny Lopez at his official penthouse residence in Manhattan on Thursday evening. “I’m sure David Cameron is sick with jealousy because the views from here are much better than the views from Downing Street,” said Dylan Jones, chairman of London Collections: Men and editor-in-chief of British GQ. The event was staged in New York because American designers andmagazines have been so supportive of the nascent but fast-growing men’s fashion week in London, explained Jones. Amongst the supportive crowd on hand were Rag & Bone’s David Neville—who will show men's in London this upcoming season—Belstaff’s Harry Slatkin, IMG’s Catherine Bennett, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Joseph Boitano and Barneys New York’s Jay Bell. There are about 60 shows, presentations and events on the London calendar for June, including parties hosted by Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger and Details. “This guarantees that anyone who comes for London Collections: Men will have one hell of a hangover,” promised Jones.
