BFC PICKS:The British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund – the BFC’s answer to the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in the U.S. – has announced the designers who are shortlisted for its 2011 prize. Jonathan Saunders, Nicholas Kirkwood, Osman, Peter Pilotto, Richard Nicoll, Charlotte Olympia, Christopher Kane and E. Tautz are all in the running. The eight labels will now present their collections and future business plans to a judging panel chaired by Alexandra Shulman, editor in chief of British Vogue. The winning designer will take home 200,000 pounds, or about $316,000 at current exchange rates, to support their business, and will benefit from a mentoring support program. British Vogue’s March 2011 issue will document the judging process and announce the winner. Last year, London-based Erdem Moralioglu won the prize. “It is very exciting to be in our second year of the fund and to be providing such tangible help to this extremely impressive shortlist of British designers,” Shulman said.
