HEDI TIMES: Add Betty Catroux’s voice to those who are 100 percent behind Hedi Slimane's new vision for Yves Saint Laurent, which includes a shift of the design studios to California, and a new moniker for the core ready-to-wear collection, Saint Laurent Paris. “All Hedi’s decisions are brilliant and it is so clever of him to work in Los Angeles — in peace, away from everything, under the sun,” she told WWD, echoing the opinion of the founder’s partner, Pierre Bergé.
Catroux, the late couturier’s androgynous muse, said she is not a nostalgic type. “As I don’t live in the past, I have no special recollections of that time except that everyday was a fairy tale,” she said, hastening to add, “but I like today just as much!”
As reported, Slimane said he would return the house to its “original branding,” including fonts. He is due to unveil his first designs — women’s resort and men’s spring 2013 — only to buyers next week in Paris.
