EASTWARD LEANING: Costume jewelry brand Ben-Amun will unveil its first freestanding store in China on March 16. The store, which is located in Chengdu Yanlord Landmark in Southwest China, precedes a second opening to take place in April. That store will open in Chongqing at department store Starlight 68. Ben-Amun is working with Budy Import & Export Trading Co. to expand its footprint in the region.
Until now, Ben-Amun was exclusively available at luxury department and specialty stores worldwide, including Le Bon Marche and Glleries Lafayette in Paris, Harvey Nichols Hong Kong, Bloomingdale’s Dubai and Saks Fifth Avenue Mexico in addition to Henri Bendel in New York City. Jewelry can also be purchased on the brand’s Web site, on Shopbop.com, and at stores including Intermix, Alice + Olivia, Anthropologie and Free People.
“The timing is right for the brand to begin what I hope will be a successful start to Ben-Amun stores in China and open the doors other markets,” said Isaac Manevitz, Ben-Amun designer and founder. “Our next dream market would potentially be Europe — Paris specifically since we have built a high appreciation for thebrand there selling at Le Bon Marche and Galeries Lafayette, and boutiques are very prevalent and profitable for small companies.”
