Bavaria’s Work and Family Minister Visits Bogner’s headquarters

After checking out the design center, Christine Haderthauer spoke with Sonia and Willy Bogner about issues affecting German companies.

FAMILY AFFAIR: Earlier this week Bavaria’s Work and Family Minister Christine Haderthauer visited Bogner’s Munich headquarters for a tour and chat with Sonia and Willy Bogner. After checking out the design center, Haderthauer spoke with the Bogners about issues affecting German companies such as work-life balance, branding and women in management roles. Women account for 40 percent of Bogner’s board and 41 percent of its managers, which is above Germany’s average. Haderthauer was particularly interested in the family-owned business’ design studio where 40 people sew samples which are produced in more than 20 countries. Noting the importance of retaining well-trained staffers through the various phases of their lives, Willy Bogner said 27 percent of the women employed by the company have flexible world schedule. His wife added, “Our length of service rate shows us that we are doing something right: just under half of our employees have been with us between 11 and 50 years.
