BARBIE DOLLS UP: America’s favorite doll is unveiling her larger than life Dream Closet at Lincoln Center to coincide with New York Fashion Week. The Barbie installation opens with 24-foot tall, jewel encrusted doors leading into a two-story, 9,000 square-foot set with multiple dressing vignettes. Barbie fans will be able to use augmented reality technology “mirrors” that allow users to literally doll themselves up in her most iconic, playful and glamorous outfits from the past five decades. Live models will also dress the set in high fashion looks by Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Moschino, Chloe, and Burberry on loan from the Albright Fashion Library. Also this month, Mattel teams up with Paul Frank for an exclusive Target collection featuring Barbie and Ken in day and nighttime wear plus accessories featuring Julius the monkey.
