Alexandre Mattiussi to Create Capsule for Bally

The Paris-based designer is collaborating with the brand on a collection of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear for fall.

BALLY MOVES: Paris-based designer Alexandre Mattiussi is collaborating with Bally on a capsule range of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear for fall, with the former launching during men’s fashion week in Milan in January, according to industry sources. A Bally spokesman declined to comment. WWD first reported that Bally was in talks with Mattiussi on July 8, following the departure of the brand’s creative directors Graeme Fidler and Michael Herz. Last year, Bally quietly named Manuel Frei, a former editor of German GQ, as its creative chief, and he is understood to be spearheading the search for new designers to work with the brand.

Mattiussi showed his men’s wear collection Ami in Paris in July, and that same month was named winner of the 24th Andam Fashion Award. The award includes a purchase order from the Canadian department store Hudson’s Bay and two seasons of mentoring by Italian fashion tycoon Renzo Rosso, plus a cash prize of 250,000 euros, or $322,005.
