ARNAULT'S BAGGAGE: Bernard Arnault’s latest pet project, the revival of Moynat, a storied 19th-century trunk maker, is taking shape. Construction is under way on the Rue Saint Honoré for a Moynat boutique slated to open at No. 348 in early December. It is located a stone’s throw from Goyard, another celebrated French luggage specialist from the same era. According to sources, Guillaume Davin, a former Louis Vuitton and Dior executive, is involved in setting up the Moynat business. Davin is a Paris-based freelancer in luxury goods and jewelry who has also worked at Glamour-sales.com in Japan, according to his LinkedIn profile. As reported first in WWD on March 10, Arnault acquired Moynat via his Groupe Arnault investment vehicle. Founded in 1849, Moynat is five years older than Louis Vuitton and was best known for its lightweight, waterproof trunks for automobiles. Groupe Arnault had no comment.
