RESHAPING: The Antonio Marras company is undergoing of a major reorganization. The designer is getting ready to unveil his Antonio Marras collection for spring Saturday and the show will see the debut of the first lineup manufactured by Mantua-based Castor, which signed an agreement with the designer for the production and worldwide distribution of his line.
“We have been impressed by their competence and it’s the first time we have seen such incredible human participation,” said Marras, as he sat on a sofa in his “Nonostante Marras” concept store, which features an unconventional selection of clothes, vintage objects and a suggestive wood bookcase.
“The way Antonio Marras expresses his own world and his creativity process just stroke us and made us believe in this project,” Castor chief executive Angela Picozzi said. “We feel he is an extremely talented designer with amazing experience and with Castor’s support and knowledge he can create something extraordinary.”
Marras’ more experimental, exclusive range, “Serie Unica,” will continue to be produced in the company’s headquarters in Alghero, such as the couture line, which debuted in Kuwait City last June.
Recently, Marras also teamed up with Italian accessories and luggage company Piquadro to design a capsule collection of 15 men’s accessories, including bags, carry-on cases and small leather goods, which will be launched next January during Milan men’s fashion week.
Marras has also made an incursion into the art business. The designer handled the set up of “Another time. Among Decadent and Modern style,” an exhibition focused on the Bloomsbury Group which opens today at Rovereto’s MART Contemporary and Modern Art Museum.
“We recreated an apartment with rooms of different colors, because during that period everything happened in people’s homes,” said Marras. “It has been an incredible, if exhausting, experience.”
