ON HOLD: Anna Piaggi fans will have to wait to enjoy the late Vogue editor’s fashion collection.
The project for the creation of a permanent exhibition of Piaggi’s clothes and accessories has collapsed.
The initiative promoted by Milan’s municipality in collaboration with Piaggi’s family was unveiled in February by the city’s former culture councilor Stefano Boeri, who was fired by mayor Giuliano Pisapia in late March.
According to reports, two weeks ago Piaggi’s family brought the archive to the Fabbrica del Vapore, a postindustrial building chosen as temporary location for the exhibition, but they did a step back, bringing home the entire collection. In fact, they were discouraged by the lack of security in the building — the alarm was out of order in the main room and the second floor, which would have hosted the collection during the upcoming Milan Design Week, doesn’t feature any security system.
With the initial project scuppered, Piaggi’s heirs said they will work to create a cultural association dedicated to Piaggi, which will collaborate with the city’s municipality.
