RIZZOLI ARRESTED: Italian television producer, cinematographer and entrepreneur Angelo Rizzoli was arrested in Rome Thursday morning by the capital’s Finance Guard, a section of law enforcement under the authority of the Minister of Economy and Finance. Rizzoli is charged with fraudulent bankruptcy and the Guard has sequestered 7 million euros, or about $9.3 million at current exchange, worth of his personal property and financial shares. According to a statement from the Guard, Rizzoli, chief executive of Tevere Audiovisivi S.r.l., also secretly controlled four other film production companies and earned millions of euros from them even as they declared bankruptcy. This is not Rizzoli’s first tangle with law enforcement: in the 1980s, he served prison time for financial fraud. Rizzoli is the grandson of Italian publishing giant Angelo Rizzoli, who founded A. Rizzoli & Co. (later RCS Media Group) in 1927 and went on to produce iconic films such as Federico Fellini’s "La Dolce Vita" and "8½" in the Sixties. He is also the son of Andrea Rizzoli, who purchased the daily Corriere della Sera in the Seventies while at the helm of the family business. Melania De Nichilo – a representative of former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi’s People of Liberty party, and Rizzoli’s wife – is also under investigation.
