ANDRE AUTEUR: Fashion fanatics convened at Marc Jacobs’ Bookmarc store in Manhattan on Friday evening to toast André Leon Talley’s new tome, “Little Black Dress.” The Vogue lifer and newly appointed editor at large for Número Russia was on hand to sign copies of the 208-page coffee table-topper, promptly taking his corner seat in the cozy West Village outpost at 6 p.m. Guests, including Robert Verdi, Lorenzo Martone and model Jeisa Chiminazzo, mingled over complementary glasses of Champagne while waiting to speak with the man of the hour.
Talley, decked in an oversize neck bauble depicting the likeness of Karl Lagerfeld, explained his new spin on the timelessly chic garment. “There is a very personal approach about the narrative,” he said. “There’s also a lot of young designers like Cushnie et Ochs, but I also think it’s fabulous to show the beautiful drama of Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy. It’s a variety of showing how people craft little black dresses, either through shape or silhouette or texture or the imagination.” And as for what’s never chic? “Tattoos. I loathe tattoos on women,” he said.
