Andam Names Seven Finalists for 2013 Prize

Olympia Le-Tan, Yang Li, Pedro Lourenço and four others are up for the cash prize of $324,645.

PRIZE FIGHT: A purchase order from Canadian department store Hudson’s Bay and two seasons of mentoring by Italian fashion honcho Renzo Rosso awaits the winner of the 24th Andam Fashion Award — along with the main cash prize of 250,000 euros, or $324,645 at current exchange rates.

The judges have named seven finalists — Olympia Le-Tan, Yang Li, Pedro Lourenço, Rabih Kayrouz, Masha Ma, Iris Van Herpen and Alexandre Mattiussi of the men’s label AMI — and are scheduled to meet on July 4 to select a winner.

Past Andam winners include Giles Deacon, Gareth Pugh and, most recently, Julien David.

In addition, there are three finalists vying for the First Collections Award, valued at 75,000 euros, or $97,395. They are Aganovich, Calla Haynes and Christine Phung. That prize bundle also includes exposure at Galeries Lafayette’s Paris flagship.

Andam’s sponsors include Fashion GPS, Hudson’s Bay Company, Longchamp, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, Galeries Lafayette, the Pierre-Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent Foundation, Rosso’s group OTB, Swarovski, Thecorner.com and Yves Saint Laurent.

Judges include Sarah Andelman, purchasing manager and creative director of Colette; Angelica Cheung, editor in chief of Vogue China; and Pamela Golbin, head curator at Les Arts Décoratifs.
