THREE’S A CHARM: The third edition of the “Americans in Paris” program — created by the Council of Fashion Designers of America and Vogue with Tommy Hilfiger’s support — is in full swing. Nine former CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund designers are presenting their spring 2013 collections in a showroom through tonight.
Albertus Swanepoel, who is showcasing his line of hats there, on Sunday lauded the exposure the event gives.
“We’ve picked up several new stores and saw a lot of editors I haven’t seen for so long,” continued Johnson Hartig, Libertine’s designer.
The program affords Creatures of the Wind designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters time with European editors, in particular. “We show on the first day of New York, so the European press isn’t always there,” explained Gabier.
Suno’s Erin Beatty and Max Osterweis — who already have sales in-house — don’t generally market their own line. “But it’s actually nice to kind of reinforce the message and the friendships with the editors that do roll through,” said Osterweis.
The other brands present were A.A., Cushnie et Ochs, Suno, Fenton Fallon, Irene Neuwirth and Organic.
