ALTUZARRA GETS POLITICAL: A flock of fashion folk gathered in the TriBeCa apartment of designer Joseph Altuzarra on Thursday for a fund-raiser for Julie Menin, the lower Manhattan community board chair who is gearing up to run for Manhattan borough president next year. Among the cohosts for the event were Nicole Miller, Vogue beauty director Sarah Brown, former Park & Bond president John Auerbach, Joel Isaacs of retail real estate firm Isaacs & Co. and Altuzarra’s boyfriend, Seth Weissman, a partner in the team redeveloping the commercial real estate in the Fire Island Pines.
“I met Julie a few months ago and was immediately impressed with her achievements as chair of Community Board 1, from opening three new schools in her district, to standing up for what she believed in in the case of the Islamic Community center,” said Altuzarra, noting this is the first time he’s gotten active in a campaign.
Menin, a polished former corporate attorney and restaurateur, is aiming to replace current borough president Scott Stringer, who is making a run for mayor next year.
